Spile privacy policy

Spile is a whiskey collection app published by Rainshadow Software. This policy covers the Spile mobile app and its optional assistant connector at mcp.getspile.app. This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics.

What we collect

Account data. Your email address and an optional display name and handle. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and name from that provider and never your password. Apple's Hide My Email works normally.

Content you create. Your bottle collection, tasting notes, ratings and lists, and any bottles, label photos or corrections you submit to the shared catalog. Spile reads a photo only when you take or pick it.

Usage analytics and crash reports. We use PostHog to understand which screens and features are used, and Sentry to capture crashes and errors (stack trace, device model, OS and app version). Both are tied to a pseudonymous identifier, not to your email.

Notifications. If you allow them, we store the device token your phone issues so we can deliver notifications through Apple's service.

AI features. Where a feature uses an AI model (Anthropic's Claude), only the text that request needs is sent to generate a response. Your name, email address and handle are never sent.

We do not collect your location, contacts or advertising identifiers. We do not sell your data and the app has no ads or third-party ad tracking.

What other people can see

Spile has social features. Your profile, tasting notes, ratings and lists can be seen by other signed-in people. Do not write anything you would not want another signed-in person to read. Your email address, how you sign in, your device token and your analytics identifiers stay private to you.

Connecting an AI assistant

You can choose to connect an assistant you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to your Spile account at mcp.getspile.app. It is off until you set it up. You sign in on a Spile page and choose what the assistant may do. What its tools return is passed to that assistant's provider, which handles it under its own terms. You can revoke access at any time at mcp.getspile.app/connections.

Where your data is stored

With Supabase (PostgreSQL) in the United States, with access limited by row-level security.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account and its data from inside the app (Settings, then Delete Account). Catalog submissions are kept without your name.

Age requirement

Spile is for adults of legal drinking age in their country or region. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age.
